Pricing Your Work
Please assign each item a retail price, keeping in mind that PAFAC will keep a 40% commission on all sales. Most items sold in the Makers Market are $35 or less, and we encourage artists to offer items at a range of prices, with “aspirational” pieces at higher prices alongside a selection of smaller and/or simpler designs (or well-crafted prints) in this lower price range.
Please do not discount the prices on your time-consuming original work!

Assigning Inventory Numbers (SKUs)
The inventory number or SKU (“stock keeping unit”) is a unique number assigned to each item, which allows us to track inventory and manage online sales. Every item you wish to sell will need an inventory number. You should have been assigned an inventory tag (often your initials or the acronym for your business) which we will use to track your individual sales and to process artist commission payments after the market closes. Your inventory numbers will include this tag, followed by a number to indicate each item; for example, Sarah Jane's items would be labeled SJ1, SJ2, SJ3, etc. If you have multiple identical items, you can use the same inventory number for each design. One-of-a-kind items will require separate inventory numbers for each item. Please do not add extra letters or use punctuation in your inventory numbers. |
Labeling Your Work
Every single item needs to be labeled with its inventory number. One-of-a-kind items should list the retail price on the item label. For identically-priced items that will be displayed together (e.g. a basket of cards) it is fine to create one price label for the entire display.

Photographing Your Work
Photos should be in a square format and should depict the item as accurately as possible against a neutral background. Please keep in mind that photos are extra important for online shoppers. At a minimum, photos must be in .jpg or .png format and <1mg file size. Photo file names should be the item SKU, e.g. SJ27.jpg. Ideally, photos should be 1000 x 1000 pixels with a resolution of 72 DPI and a RGB color format. Renne Emiko Brock has kindly prepared a some instructions on creating web-friendly files and a PowerPoint template to resize image files. Note: The Arts Center has a small portable photo booth that works well for documenting items under 10” or so; please add your name to the schedule or contact Sarah Jane (sarahjane@pafac.org) to schedule a time to use the photo booth on-site or check it out for overnight use. |
Using the Inventory Template Document
The information you provide in this document will be used to create a master inventory and online listings for each of your items. There are brief instructions and a sample line within the template. Please keep in mind that your item names and descriptions, along with your photos, will be extremely important as online shoppers make their choices.
Once your inventory document is complete, please rename the file with your inventory tag, e.g. SJ-Inventory.xlsx
**NOTE: These documents are templates & are not designed to be edited. Please save your own copy before adding inventory. **

Uploading Your Files
PAFAC will assign each participating artist a shared G-Drive folder where you may upload your completed inventory document and product photos. This is our first preference to receive your files; however, we can also receive files from your own shared folder (Dropbox, G-Drive, etc.) or from a thumb drive. Please plan to have all files uploaded on or before Monday, November 15. This gives our team time to upload inventory to the online store before the market opens. |
Market Setup
Participating artists may deliver items and set up displays from 9am – 5pm on Monday - Wednesday, November 22-24; please add your name to the schedule or contact Sarah Jane (sarahjane@pafac.org) to schedule a time to set up. You are welcome to drive up the upper driveway and park temporarily near the gallery while unloading work; a hand truck and rolling cart will be available for your use. PAFAC will have will have a selection of basic tools available, including tape measures, a level, hammer, basic hanging hardware, tape, pens & pencils, safety pins, extra pricing labels, basic cleaning supplies, and a small stepladder.
