About Mim and Bud Foley
Mim Foley was involved with the Port Angeles Fine Arts Center for decades in various volunteer positions and served as president of the Friends of PAFAC. She was instrumental in raising awareness of the Center’s mission. As a docent, she lead tours for school children, she wrote grants, and she also had another love: flowers.
“My mother wanted to spend Mother’s Day weekend with a family activity that combined her two great loves: gardening and the Port Angeles Fine Arts Center” remembers Irene Alltucker, Mim’s daughter. Gathering a group of master gardener friends and art appreciators, Art in Bloom became a reality. Fellow credentialed flower arrangers meet once a year to interpret the art on display. They’ve developed a bond over their passions.
On May 5, 2010, just after Mother’s Day weekend, Mim Foley died in an auto accident a block away from the Arts Center. Her husband, Bud, created a legacy program for Mim and committed his support to Art In Bloom to honor her. Bud passed away in 2016, but his love for Mim continues on through his generosity.
Mim’s friends and local floral designers will arrange the flowers Friday morning. The group will go to lunch at the same spot they’ve always gone and they’ll toast Mim, and Bud, and another successful year of flowers imitating art. We invite you to consider adding to this legacy of art and flowers by making a contribution to the Art in Bloom program.
