Women and Shakespeare - Dessert & Wine Talk
Friday, July 12, 6-8pm
Port Angeles Fine Arts Center • 1203 E Lauridsen Blvd, Port Angeles
$20/Ticket • Sold Out
Join Anna Andersen, Director of this summer’s production of The "Taming" of the Shrew, and Janet Lucas, Dean of Arts and Sciences at Peninsula College, as we delve into the realm of women in Shakespeare--as seen through the eyes of the #MeToo generation. A brief history of the plight of women in Shakespeare's time will be followed by an examination of some of his most notable female characters.
Particular attention will be given to the character of Kate in The Taming of the Shrew. Discussion will focus on the difficulties producing this problematic play for a contemporary audience, as well as the concept Andersen will be using to address these challenges in The "Taming" of the Shrew. The evening’s conversation will pair perfectly with fine desserts and wine.
Sorry, folks -- this popular event is now sold out! We'll see you at The Taming of the Shrew, opening July 19.
