Joyce Kohl, Elbows

The artist who made this sculpture named it “Elbows”.  It is made of steel and adobe clay. It looks very heavy.

We see it in snowy Winter and in Summer.  Joyce writes that all her work is about time in some way.  What do you think this work “Elbows” tells you about time? What would you call it if it were your work?

This work has a monumental feel about it.  Is that how you see it? The opposite of monumental is ephemeral.  Are there any circumstances under which “Elbows” could be considered ephemeral?  Would that take a change of perspective?
