Earth: an Abstract
April 4 - May 31, 2020
Port Angeles Fine Arts Center

Welcome!
You've received this link because I think your work would be a great fit for this exhibit.

In our perfect world, we would love to visit every artist in person to select artwork -- but we're working with many different artists, and have decided to use a webform to help us keep all the information organized. Thanks for being patient with this process, and with us!

We're asking each artist to submit up to five pieces for consideration for this exhibit. Curatorial decisions will be based on the quality of the work, how well it fits the theme, and the needs and limitations of our display spaces (more on that below.) We'll be getting back to everyone on or before December 29 with final decisions.

Got questions along the way? Want to recommend another artist whose work we should consider? Please send Sarah Jane an e-mail (sarahjane@pafac.org) and we'll do our best to help you out. :)

My Vision
Honoring the 50thanniversary of Earth Day, this exhibit features 50 abstract artworks that reference the natural world: celebrating the earth’s beauty and diversity, exploring the science of the natural world, and addressing the environment’s very real vulnerability.
Exhibit Guidelines & Requirements
  • This curated, invitational exhibit is open to artists living in the Pacific Northwest.
  • . All works must fit through a standard door.

    Venue Selection
This innovative exhibit will be shared across two very different locations in the Port Angeles community. Please read below and indicate your preference of venue.

The Port Angeles Fine Arts Center is a dedicated art gallery in a striking architect-designed space, and
is a well-known regional destination for lovers of contemporary art.. Works displayed here receive full insurance coverage, professional gallery lighting, and extremely flexible installation options for nontraditional artwork. Drawbacks to the Fine Arts Center include limited public hours (Thursday -- Sunday, 10am -- 4pm) and limited foot traffic.

The Port Angeles Main Library is a vibrant multi-use community hub with a well-established Art in the Library program. Works displayed here will benefit from significantly longer public hours (
Monday – Thursday, 10am – 8pm; Friday, 10am – 6pm; Saturday, 10am – 5pm) and a diverse audience of up to 20,000 visitors each month. Two-dimensional artwork exhibited at the Library must be compatible with the existing art rail and hook system. The Library has limited lighting capabilities, and is not able to provide insurance coverage for artwork on display.

Both venues are located on public transit lines, are free to the public, and are fully ADA accessible. Please contact Sarah Jane (sarahjane@pafac.org) if you have questions about either venue.
