Highway 104 leads through historic Port Gamble and then across the Hood Canal Bridge to merge with Highway 101 near Discovery Bay. After winding around the foot of Sequim Bay it traverses the bucolic Dungeness Valley until it enters Port Angeles, approximately seventy-five odometer miles from downtown Seattle. Total travel time is about 2 1/2 hours. From the EAST:Entering Port Angeles continue to follow Highway 101, now Front Street, westbound to Race Street and the Olympic National Park Hurricane Ridge turn off. Turn left (south) and proceed 1 mile towards Hurricane Ridge. Turn left (east) on Lauridsen Boulevard and proceed 1/4 mile to PAFAC parking adjacent to a domed water silo. Park and follow the trail to the Center and the Park. From the WEST:As Highway 101 enters Port Angeles it turns sharply north and becomes Lincoln Street. At this turn exit to continue in an easterly direction on Lauridsen Boulevard. Proceed about 1 mile, cross Race Street and continue 1/4 mile to PAFAC parking adjacent to a domed water silo. Park and follow the trail to the Center and the Park. From Victoria:The Black Ball Line provides B.C. direct ferry service to downtown Port Angeles. The ferry, Coho, crosses the 18-mile trench in 90 minutes. |
